Riko Okada is currently a graduate student pursuing her doctoral thesis at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. She majored in Bahasa Indonesia, studying not only the language but also the culture, history, and literature. As an undergraduate, she also studied in Indonesia, where she developed a deep interest in Indonesian translations of Japanese literature. Currently, she is focused on translation from Japanese to Indonesian and its cultural context. In her current studies, Riko is exploring world literature and examining the potential and direction for literature to cross cultural borders. She is also deepening her understanding of post-colonial translation. Upon completing her current project, she intends to research translations conducted under wartime regimes.
