Short Bio

 

Dr. Clay Keller EATON is a lecturer in the Department of Japanese Studies (College of Humanities and Sciences) at the National University of Singapore. He is a historian who specializes on the relationship between Japan and Southeast Asia in the twentieth century. His doctoral research (Columbia University, 2018) focused on the Japanese occupation of Singapore during the Second World War. More recently, Dr. Eaton has been involved in public history projects related to the pre-war Japanese community in Southeast Asia, such as the Mapping Middle Road research project, which was supported by the National Heritage Board of Singapore.
