Depok – Monday, 27 April 2026 – The Center for Japanese Studies, Universitas Indonesia (CJS UI), in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia and the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP UI), successfully organized the 14th Ambassadorial Lecture on Japanese Studies (XIV/2026).
The lecture was delivered by H.E. Mr. Myochin Mitsuru (Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to the Republic of Indonesia), who shared his perspectives on Indonesia–Japan relations in the context of current regional and global dynamics. The session was followed by an interactive discussion with participants, moderated by Dr. Asra Virgianita from the Department of International Relations, FISIP UI.
The program opened with welcoming remarks by Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Universitas Indonesia. In his remarks, he reaffirmed the shared understanding between Universitas Indonesia and the Embassy of Japan regarding the role of the Center for Japanese Studies Universitas Indonesia in fostering Indonesia–Japan relations.
A total of 120 participants attended onsite, along with 20 participants joining online. Attendees included students from the International Relations Program (FISIP UI) and the Japanese Studies Program (FIB UI), faculty members from FISIP UI, FIB UI, and SPPB UI, as well as representatives from the Japan Foundation, Jakarta; the Indonesian Association for Japanese Studies (ASJI); and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Indonesia.
The session concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Himawan Pratama, Head of the Center for Japanese Studies Universitas Indonesia, reaffirming the Center’s commitment to advancing Indonesia–Japan relations through academic activities, cultural exchanges, and community engagement programs.
